Vôňa a chuť sú jemne sladkasté, s výraznou chuťou po sladkom drievku. Typická na používanie tohto korenia je ázijská kuchyňa. Skvele sa hodí aj na ochutenie kompótov, lekvárov a sladkého pečiva.
